Reviews: The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys tells us the story of the four boys Francis, Wade, Joey, and Tim, and of their very strong friendship. Although their families all are strict Catholics and they have to go to monastery-school, with the terrible math teacher and priest Assumpta (played by Jodie Foster) takes care of them. The boys try everything to make life as difficult as possible for her! Indeed, they even steal the school symbol, the Holy Maria. Each experience and each thought which has to do with Assumpta, they write down as a comic, but they have to watch out that the comic doesn’t become reality! This story shows us how important friends are, but also it tells us to think before acting. The characters, and especially the main character Francis, are played very well, very precise and convincing! The viewer really feels the liveliness behind it. This wonderful American film is a dignified candidate for this year’s Glass Bear! Alexandra Askoldova |
