Reviews: Reviews by: Dorian Brunz | Max Pietzker Someone like Hodder is a rather sad film, which is losened up by happy scenes of school life. It tells the story of Hodder, a boy who is excluded and mistreated by the group of his fellow students. Especially Filip and Alex won't leave him alone. One night, a fairy visits Hodder and tells him, "You are the chosen one. You are to save the World." Hodder thinks about how he should accomplish this and resolves to start little by little. I had to listen my way into the film, since the German voice-over was simoultaneous to the Danish originals; therefore, I could hardly tell which actors were speaking. Everthemore, I enjoyed the film's music and score. I also thought the actors were superb! Now and then, I felt that suspense was somehwat lagging, and at some points, I couldn't easily follow the narrative. This is a film, which one has to ponder a lot at home. It shows not only the Beauty of life, but also many Sadnesses. The more I think about this film, the more beautiful I find it. Dorian Brunz, 10 years I thought this movie super! The actors were extremely convincing, and the girl from Iceland, as well as the teacher Asta were very funny! Fillip und Hodder played their parts better than well. The film’s story was also sharp, although a little hard to understand. Hodder wanted to save the entire World, yet in the end, he saved part of his world, but this is alright, because after all, he has found many friends. It also not necessary to save all of the World; the fairy tells Hodder, "When you can’t go to Guambilua, then Guambilua must come to you!" And that’s precisely what happened. From time to time, I found the film to be quite sad, because Hodder was always an outsider, who is being used by others. I also enjoyed the film’s musical score very much. This is a good film that teaches to always trust one’s self, because many things can be done, which one could have never dreamt of. Max Pietzker, 10 years |
