Noa won’t forget the summer of 1976 in a hurry. It all began when a Palestinian commando hijacked the aircraft on which the mother of a neighbour’s son was a passenger. What to do? Noa and her friends decide to take things in hand.Discovering Noa’s father’s submachine gun in the linen cupboard, the children hatch a plot designed to free the hostages. Shortly afterwards, the four children kidnap a Palestinian boy from the neighbourhood and make their demands to the President.
The situation escalates. While the Palestinian boy’s father and his Jewish friends search the city high and low for his son, the four kidnappers are kept busy looking after their Palestinian hostage in hiding. In the meantime, the Entebbe hijackers’ ultimatum is slowly but surely running out. Moreover, Noa has discovered that her father has a girlfriend. What really confuses this energetic girl, however, is that the boy they have kidnapped is really nice. What’s more, she begins to trust him – and he her.
In the end, the neighbour’s boy’s mother returns from Entebbe with the other hostages; the children, too, release their hostage. A deep mutual affection has evolved between the children, and Noa has learned how little sincerity and trust there is in the adult world. Her father is now the first person of whom Noa demands honesty. Set against the backdrop of the hijacking of a passenger jet in Entebbe on 27. 6. 1976, the film tells a very private story of daily life among Jews and Palestinians.
