Eleven-year-old
Lloyd is a funny kid, an oddball and a joker who always has the last laugh.
But sadly, Lloyd's thick glasses make him look pretty ugly and this doesn't
make life easy at all. In order to cope with his classmates teasing remarks
he tries hard to play the class clown, something which only ends up consolidating
his reputation as an outsider. It also puts him in the teachers' bad books.
The meanest of all his teachers is Mrs. Crub. She seems to have it in
for somebody in the class again and Lloyd does his best to help the pitiful
victim. For his pains, Mrs. Crub swiftly meters out a heavy punishment:
from now on, Lloyd is to join the special afternoon classes for less gifted
children.
In his new remedial class Lloyd not only meets Troy, Carla and Storm,
he also learns an important lesson in life about love, because, no sooner
does a pretty new pupil named Tracey appear on the scene than Lloyd falls
promptly in love with her. Thankfully, Lloyd's younger but much more experienced
brother is able to give him a few tips and lessons in how to deal with
girls. At first, however, Lloyd's efforts to win Tracey's heart end in
disgrace and he realizes that just can't compete with his rival, Storm,
the school rebel. Only when the owner of a magician's shop with whom Lloyd
is acquainted shows him how to perform a few magic tricks, do the tables
turn in his favor.
