High
above the big city, safe and secure underneath the geraniums on an artist's
balcony lives a tiny elf called Cirkeline. She shares her life with her
two witty friends, the mice Ingolf and Frederik. The little community
are exposed to very few of the dangers that would otherwise plague the
lives of such tiny creatures. But a shadow is cast across their idyllic
lifestyle one day when Ingolf meets Mille mouse, who is shortsighted and
who has lost her way whilst out looking for cheese. Gentleman that he
is, Ingolf insists on accompanying the pretty but confused little mouse
home again. In doing so, he learns of her plight. Tomorrow is Mille's
birthday. She'd dearly love to celebrate but can't because she is constantly
being sent out to look for cheese by her bad-tempered stepfather, who,
it seems, can't get enough of the stuff. Feeling sorry for the little
lady, the mice on the balcony decide to throw a birthday party for Mille.
In order to placate the old grouch, they collect a huge portion of cheese,
in the hope that this will put him in a good mood.
On the contrary! As soon as this tyrant of a mouse gets wind of the party,
he flips his lid, forbids Mille to go and locks her into a mousetrap.
Horrified and furious, Ingolf refuses to take things lying down. Full
of determination, he sets out to where Mille is being held. Hold on, Mille!
Your knight in shining armor is nigh!
