15-year-old
Sanna is crazy about horses. School doesn’t seem to interest
her at all, which leads to many an argument with her parents.
She even manages to quarrel with her riding instructor. Life,
it seems, is far from easy. It is Sanna’s dearest wish to own
a horse of her own, but there is no way that her parents can
afford one. One night, some Arab thoroughbreds are flown in
by air. They are a present from a foreign government to the
Swedish army. The horses are taken to a stables not far from
Sanna’s parents’ house where they are kept in quarantine. As
soon as Sanna hears the news there’s no stopping her and, while
she is sussing out the situation in the restricted military
zone she notices a particularly handsome black stallion named
Sherdil – just the type of horse Sanna has always longed to
own. When Sanna learns that the animals are destined for the
slaughterhouse her mind is made up and she decides to save Sherdil.
She manages to steal the horse and hides away with him in a
remote hut in the forest. Sanna’s schoolmates supply her with
food and information and, for a while, everything runs smoothly.
But then, Sanna’s best friend quarrels with her and reveals
her hiding place. A wild chase ensues. While the army pursue
Sanna and Sherdil by air in a helicopter, the police do everything
in their power to ensure at least the girl’s safety . . .
